The Hour I First Believed
So...I found the Wally Lamb book that I haven't read and am four or five chapters in. Definitely like this book so far! Nicole, have you read this one? Melissa, have you? I'll post as I go and if you have read it, perhaps you can comment. If you haven't, would you like to join me? Miss you ladies :)

Cinderella Ate My Daughter
A mother's wish:
"I know that if I could imbue her with a superpower, it would be the ability to withstand the pressures of the culture around her, to be her own woman despite the potential costs: I would give her the courage of her convictions, the power to be the hero of her own story without ambivalence or fear, to embrace her gifts regardless of her body's size or shape - even if I have not been fully able to embrace mine (158)".

Page 314
"It was something every child knew how to do, maintain a direct and full connection with the world. Somehow you forgot about it as you grew up, and had to learn it again (314)".
When I read this, it pretty much summed up how I feel about my children. Their ability to experience everything, to live in the moment, to FEEL everything. So pure and so innocent. Everyday, my girls teach me how to live that way again because I have, in fact, lost a lot of my ability to do so independently. One of the saddest things, is to imagine them losing this ability.
